Types of Data Collection
- Primary Data: Information collected first-hand by consultants based on project-specific requirements. This includes technical and statistical data gathered using specialized instruments and methodologies.
- Secondary Data: Pre-existing information obtained from previous technical studies, surveys, reports, and other reliable sources. Consultants analyze these datasets and, where necessary, conduct additional primary data collection to improve accuracy and completeness.
For design projects, both technical and statistical data, whether primary or secondary, are essential. If prior technical work exists, it is classified as secondary data. Where additional information is required, consultants develop new datasets using appropriate methodologies to ensure accuracy and relevance to the project's requirements.
